Happy New Year to everyone in 2017!
Suddenly, I decided to start blogging in English and Chinese as one of New Year's new attempts. I plan to post articles irregularly about topics on economy and economics. I do not know to what extent this attempt will work, but I would appreciate it if you can pay attention.
In this first article, I will introduce two TV programs that I appeared at the beginning of the year.
My first TV appearance in 2017
My first participating TV program of this year, the Nippon's Dilemma New Year Special, was broadcasted at E-Tele from 23 o'clock on January 1, in which I appear as the one of 12 debaters. Unlike the so-called discussion program, the Nippon's Dilemma is characterized by a dialogue format that people elaborate their idea together while respecting each other's opinions about difficult issues. Perhaps it may be unsatisfactory for those who are expecting a verbal battle, but if you receive a stimulus or stimulation to think about something through the program, I am so happy as a performer.
Participation in the new year special is my third time. I made it all my best to say the comment from my own expertise in the first time, and I focused too much on putting all the discussions around in the second time, but finally this time I feel that I was able to make two things well balanced. I also enjoyed on air as a viewer as I have been writing on SNS, mainly to respond to other viewers who kindly made comments on the program.
Second TV appearance in 2017
I appeared as a navigator at the following NHK program, broadcasted at NHK BS1 from 21 o'clock on January 3:
BS1 Special "Capitalism of Desire 2017: When Rules Change"
I went to visit the front runners of the world economic, financial and industrial world, including Nobel economists Professors Stiglitz and Roth. With the content of the revised edition or the full enlarged version of the "Capitalism of Desire: when Rules Change" broadcasted last May, the time has also drastically increased from 50 minutes to 100 minutes! The program was created with a tremendous amount of time and concentration, and so I could say it to be a culmination of my communicating activities on economic knowledge that I have been doing through the media.
Due to being involved in "Capitalism of Desire", a change has also occurred in the way I perceive myself and the direction of research on capitalism and the economy (a part of the research result can be grasped here). At the same time, I was able to know the pleasure of discussing complicated issues and questions from various perspectives with people with different nationalities and professions. It took time to gather information to prepare for the program, and the pace of research has fallen at a stretch, but as I complemented it more, I could grow both as a researcher and as a communicator. I am really thankful to many people involved in program production and to a fateful encounter with such great program.
